An Apple Fell into My Pasta!

My name is Lexi and this summer was my 5th year at Timber Lake Camp. Over the past years I met the most amazing friends and people who I know will be part of my life forever. My bunk consists of a group of girls from Long Island, Westchester and NJ. Many of us keep in touch throughout the year via the computer and sometimes have sleepovers. Although we don’t see each other that much during the year, the strong bonds we have formed at TLC make it seem like we never left each other once the summer ends. I am so excited that my brother Jesse joined me at camp this summer for the first time!

What is the number #1 thing you love most about camp?
There are so many things I love about camp but the #1 thing is being able to spend time with my friends 24/7!  We wait 313 days for 2 incredible months that create memories for years to come.

What was one of the funniest things that happened to you at camp?
The funniest thing that has happened to me was at mealtime when we played a game called “Freeze.” When I was putting a piece of pasta in my mouth, my counselor called “Freeze!”  I stopped and froze with my mouth wide open. She then put a cup on my head and tried to balance an apple on the top of the cup, then when she said “Unfreeze,” and the apple fell right into my pasta. That was the first time I have ever eaten apple pasta! 🙂

What is one of your favorite memories from camp?
The most vivid memories took place on Rainy Days. Our bunk became very creative and one of the things we would do is create “The Bunk 12 Shoe Cleaning Company” that was made up of different stations. Each person in the bunk would have a specific responsibility. For example one person would wash the shoes down with water and pass it on to the soap station, then to the rinse station, then to the shine and buff station. We would show up at the evening activity and everyone would have shoe envy!

Describe camp using only 3 words:
My Summer Home.

What did you most look forward to doing this past summer?
Playing in the Melter Cup and representing Timber Lake.  I can’t wait to start training again for next summer!
