Olympic Fever Stops at TLC en Route to London!

In just a few weeks, Timber Lake will begin our annual Marathon where we will split the entire camp up into 2 teams; Green and White.  But before Marathon gets here, we had a full day of Olympic competition where the entire camp was split up into 4 teams!

In events such as backwards kickball and 2-way soccer, the Olympics was an awesome “change-of-pace” where our campers were able to switch up the every day normal sports into some new and exciting games! Our 4 teams consisted of both campers and counselors and they had an awesome time competing against each other all day!  Our 2012 Olympic teams were: English White, Italian Blue, Russian Red, and Spanish Green.

Our Opening Ceremonies pitted our Captains against each other in a 1-on-1 Pillow Fighting match, followed by a Tug-O-War competition with 2 campers from each division, and ended with a water balloon toss where the counselors had to place a bucket on their heads with water balloons being tossed to them by a boy and girl camper from each division! Needless to say, our counselors didn’t stay too dry, but they had a great time competing!

After a full day of competition, our Closing Ceremonies ended with a 4-team basketball shootout and a steal the bacon competition with our upper campers.

But alas, all good things must come to an end and at the Timber Lake Camp Olympics, there can only be 1 victor. The final result of Olympics 2012 was…. (wait for it – wait for it…..) Red in 1st! And right behind was Blue in 2nd, White in 3rd, and Green in 4th. It was truly a great day for everyone!

We can’t believe how fast the summer has been flying by! With the amazing staff and campers all working together during Olympics 2012, we can certainly say that all of TLC had a great day!
